As you are now aware of the dispute between Tencent/QQ and Qihoo/360, we want to take this opportunity to say a few words to our QQ International users.
Tencent has always supported fair competition, but unfair play turns online users and others into victims, and therefore we cannot and do not tolerate malicious accusations from Qihoo 360. QQ has never pried into user files illegally, nor has it offended the privacy of its users. On the contrary, 360 hijacks QQ's security module, interfering with QQ's functionality and leaving QQ account information unsecured. This kind of behavior is unthinkable in the western world. It's like Norton Anti Virus disables the "play a game" function on Live Messenger, or itunes blocks someone running Adobe Flash Player on IE. If a safety software like 360 abuses its power by deciding which software and which function should exist on user's desktop, regardless how it's related to "security", such software should be eliminated from the market as it has abruptly violated user's freedom of choice. In response to 360's bad business practices, Tencent made the difficult decision to shut down QQ access for those users who install 360 on their computers.
We regret that our users are caught up in the middle of the dispute, and we are racing to resolve it through legal actions. In the meantime, we ask you for your understanding and continued support.
